A finely detailed 19th-century engraving after a landscape by Gaspard Dughet, also known as Gaspard Poussin. The pastoral composition depicts shepherds and their flock resting within a serene valley, framed by tall trees and a distant village beneath an expansive sky.
This engraving was drawn by Horace Vernet, engraved in Stuttgart by Duttenhofer, and published in Paris by Félix Herbel, as part of a series reproducing paintings from the collection of the Louvre Museum. Such prints were produced in the early to mid-19th century to bring celebrated works of European painting into private homes.
Rendered in delicate line engraving and presented in a classic gilt frame, the piece offers timeless pastoral charm and refined historical character—an elegant addition to a traditional gallery wall or layered interior.
Frame measures 21 inches high by 23 inches wide.
